Cougar Running Back commit J.J. DiLuigi led Canyon High School to a monumental upset over the De La Salle Spartans who were the #1 ranked team in america, in the California CIF championship.
This was the second time this season I have watched DiLuigi play and he impressed me again. His cut backs were amazing, and he is a very strong back for his size. Petros Papadakas who was the color commentator for the game said DiLuigi is "the LaDainian Tomlinson of High School football." A fun game to watch, and happy to see DiLuigi have a great game on the big stage.
DiLuigi finished the evening with 138 yards on 21 carries. His season total was 2,159 yards and 39 touchdowns. I bet many schools in the Pac-10 are trying to lure this guy away from BYU, but I'm confident that he is committed to the Cougs. How he committed to the program over the summer shows to me that he is a man of his word. I'm excited to see DiLuigi in the Cougar blue next fall.
