Cougars in the NFL: Week 2
By Mitch Section: Alumni
Posted on Wed Sep 20, 2006 at 05:39:24 PM EDT

Continuing with following Cougar Alumni in the NFL here is a roundup of Week 2.

Player of the Week:  Ryan Denney, DE, Bills
Denney had three sacks within the first 17 minutes of play on Miami QB Daunte Culpepper.
This is what Denney had to say from the game recap

"It was a combination of confusing them as well as the pressure we put on them," said Denney, who also forced a fumble. "If there's pressure in your face, you can't run your offense, you can't wait for your receivers to get open."

Denney is an awesome player for the Bills and this game should be his coming out party on the big time NFL scene.  Denney is currently 4th in the NFL with his 3 sacks.

Brady Poppinga, LB, Packers
After his impressive opener against the Bears with 8 tackles.  Poppinga had less of a impact against the Saints this past week with only 2 tackles in the loss, but still getting plenty of reps.

Rob Morris, LB, Colts
Morris had 2 tackles in the win over the Texans.  The Colts are off to another fast start at 2-0.

Aaron Francisco, S, Cardinals
"Hawaiian Punch" recorded 2 solo and 2 assisted tackels at Qwest Field against in a loss to the Seahawks.

Brett Keisel and Chris Hoke, DL, Steelers
The Cougar Duo on the Steeler D-Line each recorded 2 tackles on Monday Night Football in the lowest scoring in MNF history a 9-0 loss to the Jaguars.
